Always a good time. Best hibachi in Des Moines and most of the chefs are great. We did visit and they were not serving alcohol which has kept us from coming back in the last month but they are serving again!

I have been to all of the Hibachi Grills in town (Ohana, Samurai, Taki) and I have given O'Hana a try twice and both times the food was dry, not very good, and the sauces were definately lackluster. Something that we like a lot at Hibachi grills is a good sauce for your protein and also for your veggies and rice. Their sauce just didn't meld the flavors together and I actually did not even bring my leftovers home because I didn't care for it. The service was quick however the food to me was definitely not worth having again.

My favorite place in the metro! The staff is always great with amazing personalities and they always go the extra mile to make you dinner amazing. The food is always amazing. Ohana has some of the best seafood and steaks in town. It is the only place in town I trust to serve a blue steak. They also have the best fried rice, that is even better as left overs the next morning. I usually order the royal combination with filet and scallops. I find the addition of their garlic and chili pepper is a great addition to many of their dishes.

I've heard great things about this place and was excited to eat here. The food was mediocre at best but the chef was arrogant, rude and unfriendly. He needs to get a different job if he is so unhappy. Not worth the money we spent. We will never go back!

This place was fun and the food was great. I thought we would see a few more tricks from the chef, but the kids still had a fun time.

Love this place. I try to come here whenever I'm in Des Moines. If you know you are going there, call the day before to make a reservation and ask about the cold smoked steak. Unbelievable how good this is. They pipe wood smoke through a process that makes the smoke cold, into the cold raw steak. It infuses into the steak giving it a smokiness I've never tasted anywhere else. I stumbled on this once when they featured it as a special. It's my favorite steak anywhere. But it takes them 24 hours prep time. Absolutely worth it. If you don't do that, get the scallops. They are done to perfection. My favorite scallops anywhere, hands down. Get the fried rice. It's an upcharge from the white rice, but it's the best you'll eat. Ask them to "make it spicy." Another upcharge, but also worth it. Yes, they do prepare the food right in front of you, which does make it entertaining. That's one reason to go there, sure. But I go there for the food.

My first visit here I got the fish and fillet. Fillet was overcooked but the fish was good. Wasn't a huge fan of the sauce they put on the fish. Second visit I got the scallops. Everyone says that's what they're known for etc. So maybe I came in with really high expectations. The scallops were ehhh. Just ok. They were good, but not phenomenal like what others claim. I did try a piece of my friends calamari and that was pretty good. All the other stuff like veggie and rice, soup and salad were just normal. It is one of the best in des Moines. A little bit overpriced but you do get a lot of food, they probably justify it by putting more random stuff on your dish, like the noodles which I never touch.

My go to special occasion location. The food is beyond amazing. They are also very careful and accommodating for people with food allergies. The entertainment is an added bonus to the amazing food.

Only one word properly describes Ohana Steakhouse and that is Amazing. My husband and I have been here multiple times and the food and service every time is impeccable. They have the best tasting scallops and scallop sauce, most tender meats and always an entertaining show . Ohana's makes for a great date night or family dinner. The environment is conducive to whatever you are looking for. Erin and Andrew are amazing servers. All the cooks are amazing each have their own specialty and way of cooking. If you are looking for a fun and delicious supper guaranteed to be a great night out then Ohana's is the place to go!

Food was not great and the chef did minimal tricks and was kind of an a-hole. I would skip.

We came here for Mothers Day on Sunday - it was a well done meal. Everything tasted fresh and delicious. Our chef was very personable, as was our waiter, an accomplishment as I heard them mention they had been there since 8:30 that morning (we were one of the last tables in at 8pm that night). I would like to see the restaurant get a facelift - it seems dark inside, and I know it's been there for years between Shogun and now Ohana. Otherwise, no complaints - I'd go back!

Courteous and attentive staff. Visited here with a group of thirteen so we packed one of the cook stations. Our server was Johnny-on-the- spot with drinks once he got the bartender going... And we was refilling almost before we could ask. Our cook seemed more Ike he was auditioning for a comedy club but it helped to cover up the fact that he had SOOOO much food to cook for this bunch. He also went to great lengths to accomodate our one guest who had dietary restrictions as well as our token vegetarian....all this without making the rest of us feel delayed. With such a large group we got to sample most everything on the menu and it was all good although the shrimp was a bit chewy and the noodles a little too thick. I found that prices ranged $2-3.00 more per entree than similar restaurants where I trade but not grossly out of line. I would say that for parties up to ten this isn't a bad departure from the ordinary eateries in the area.

I have heard so many good things about this place and being a local I finally decided to try it out last night. I ordered the Sesame Chicken with steamed rice. We were seated in a large room with many other people and everything smelled great so I was excited to give it a go! Our waiter was nice and kept our drinks full but our chef was not very fun or lacked a good "show" which is a big selling point of this place, I thought. They took a long time to bring our food out and gave us a small dish with some bland tasting soup which was okay but since this was my first time I was unsure as to how they prepare every ones food and serve us so I did not want to offend the chef by asking for rice(which I had ordered at the beginning of my meal). The older folks to my right received their rice first thing with the soup but I only was given a small sample of some fried rice(I wanted steamed) and a whole plate of veggies instead. My chicken was just okay and I asked for whatever spicy seasoning the chef could add on would be fine but I make tastier sesame chicken at home and I have traveled and eaten in major asian countries. Did not enjoy the atmosphere as it felt ackward watching strangers eat and even trying to start up conversations with the chef was a chore. The food was not awful but it was just bland and left me hungry as the portions were small and the system in place was never explained to me and my friend as we had never eaten there before. So many of my friends said how I had to try this place but I do not see what is so great about over priced bland tasting food although my friends tell me I just had a very bad experience. I understand you pay partially for the show but our chef put on a good 30-60 seconds of show and then dropped an egg and did not live up to the reputation of this place as I see it. My friend received a very thin New York strip and although he did enjoy the texture he said the taste was not that great and recommends Johhny's Italian Steakhouse parmesan crusted steaks over this place any day. My friend was still hungry after our meal as was I even when my meal cost $17 for about 3 oz of chicken and some veggies and his was over $26 for his small steak and rice! I never did receive my steamed rice and I shouldn't have to keep asking for what I ordered. I will not be returning here.

This is another teppenyaki style restaurant where the chef cooks in front of you and also has a bag of tricks to show you. My friends, including myself decided we needed a break from potatoes so we were seeking rice. What better place to come than here? Of course, we knew one of the chefs is from Hilo, Big Island so he hooked us up! Loads of fun with our party of 12 people. Awesome food, though pricey. Great service. Lots of parking. You won't be famished when you leave this restaurant.

If you are hungry and want to be entertained, please come here. Ohana is hidden in a strip mall but serves up a great night of entertainment. They have a cute waiting area, with a small but well stocked bar. The seating area seems a little cramped, and could use some dividers or additional privacy. Issaac rocked it out! He had the jokes, the moves, and was personable and down to earth. He could be mistaken for your brother's friend from high school. Thank him for his service in the military. :) The food was excellent, and there was plenty. They are known for their scallops, with a hollendaise type sauce, but I found them good, but not crazy good as I have heard. Have the fried rice instead of the steamed, it comes hot off the grill. Yum! Refills are so fast and everyone was very friendly! The prices are a little high, but if you think of it as dinner and entertainment, it's a great deal!

The chef prepares your food in front of you. A little pricey, but it's a good place to go for special occasions. Reservations are recommended, and you won't leave feeling hungry!
